Introduction

All Gave Some, Some Gave All

In May 2022, Advent partnered with Parkhill, an architecture firm, to help shape the Lubbock Police Department’s new headquarters. This project was immensely important to the Lubbock community, reflecting the city’s commitment to public safety. Parkhill sought Advent’s expertise to tell the story of the Lubbock PD, honoring both its long-standing legacy and officers who had fallen in the line of duty. The Advent team gained insight into how to visually capture these narratives, making them accessible to the public and integrating historical artifacts like uniforms and equipment, ensuring a deep connection to the department’s heritage.

Advent’s goal was to enhance the storytelling of this high-end facility by creating a welcoming, reflective atmosphere. Honoring fallen officers and showcasing the department’s evolution were top priorities in the design. The headquarters’ raw materials, such as exposed concrete and open-tread stairs, challenged the team had to creatively incorporate into the narrative. Multipurpose spaces were also designed to be adaptable and functional for various needs. Emphasizing the community connection, a city map under the stairs highlights Lubbock’s various police stations, linking the headquarters to its broader mission. The Advent team helped the Lubbock PD not only celebrate its 100-year history but also make the building a space where both officers and the public could feel at home.
