Introduction
The Spirit of Penn
The University of Pennsylvania’s Track and Field program has an exceptional record. With 13 Olympians and 10 Individual NCAA Champions, they needed a facility where people appreciated and celebrated the greatness of track and field. The Ott Center for Track and Field needed to serve as both a home and an inspiration for current athletes, prospective recruits, and alumni. They engaged Advent to help create a hub that unites all facets of the program, fostering connection, inclusivity, and excellence. The outcome? A facility reflects the essence of Penn’s track and field legacy, where athletes of all disciplines—sprinters, distance runners, throwers, and jumpers—can come together as one team that embodies the “Spirit of Penn.”

At its core, the Ott Center emphasizes togetherness, bringing Penn’s track and field family under one roof. This state-of-the-art facility acts as a beacon for the sport’s greatness, showcasing records, milestones, and the program’s rich history alongside iconic elements like the Penn Relays and their home city of Philadelphia. Designed to inspire, the center provides spaces for celebration, with features like a school records wall, jersey displays, and donor recognition pieces. It’s a place where athletes can feel pride in their sport, motivated by the legacy of those who came before them and empowered to create their own.
As Steve Dolan aptly put it, the Ott Center is not just a building—it’s a “home” that embodies the values of teamwork, perseverance, and excellence that define Penn Track and Field.
