Introduction
Growing Food, Transforming Lives
Cul2vate is a non-profit organization committed to growing both food and people by transforming underutilized land into opportunities for those in need of a second chance. Operating in the Nashville area, Cul2vate provides employment and support to members of society, helping them rebuild their lives on the farm. The organization’s mission also includes addressing food deserts and engaging local volunteers, new Cul2vators, and the greater Nashville community. By touching lives through the simple yet profound act of growing food and loving people, Cul2vate creates a nurturing space for individuals to lean on and grow.
Cul2vate has long aimed to raise awareness of its mission and impact within and beyond the local community. Advent was engaged in this process to design an event and activations that effectively communicate Cul2vate’s mission, engage a diverse audience, and ensure that these events and activities are both impactful and meaningful. The project resulted in three versatile and enduring activations at the annual event, each crafted to engage and educate attendees on Cul2vate’s mission.
The first activation, a “seed-to-need” experience, illustrated Cul2vate’s life cycle of a crop alongside the journey of a Cul2vator, immersing attendees in the organization’s mission and impact. Another activation featured a hands-on station where attendees, joined by Cul2vators, could pot their own plants on seed paper. This station was designed for easy setup, making it ideal for use at farmers’ markets and other community events. The third activation showcased the crops and plants cultivated by the Cul2vators, creating an instagrammable moment that invited attendees to capture and share moments, helping spread awareness of Cul2vate’s purpose and work.
